When it comes to interior design, the trends are ever-changing. We are constantly finding ourselves trying to keep up to date with the latest trends and finding new ways to enhance our interior design whilst putting our own spin on it. Here at Wright Construction, one of the things we specialise in is fitting and designing bathrooms, and so we see firsthand the constantly changing trends and how these are implemented throughout each home in a different way.
During 2020, people have been using the time spent in lockdown to work on their homes and redesign rooms in the house. Therefore, this year in particular we have seen lots of new trends develop, and we thought we would tell you about a few of these incase you are in need of some inspiration for redecorating your bathroom!
Floating vanity units
A lot of the time when people redesign a room in the house, they like to make it more modernised and up to date with the latest features, facilities and design trends. One thing that is very modern and has become increasingly popular so far in 2020, is having floating vanity units. Whilst these instantly create a more modern feel to the room simply based off appearance, they also feel better as they create more space and have the ability to make your bathroom appear bigger.
Having floating vanity units is quite a big change to make to the design of your bathroom, however it is very visually appealing. In fact, this almost becomes the focal point in your bathroom, and as a result makes the room feel entirely modernised and like it has had a breath of fresh air.
Brass features
When it comes to colour schemes, sometimes it is good to be a little bit more adventurous. Brass detailing is a great way to enhance the features in your bathroom and give it more of a luxurious feel. Brass is distinctive, and by bringing this into the design it becomes very distinctive and almost makes your bathroom feel more elegant.
Furthermore, though it may at first seem like a bold move to have brass features in your bathroom, it is actually quite a minimal addition, although one with a significant impact. It is up to you how you incorporate brass into your bathroom design, and how prominent you want this to be. Some examples could be brass edge mirrors, shower heads and faucets with a brass finish, and much more. It is a good chance to get a little more adventurous with your design and keep up to date with the latest trends.
Dark colours
Over the past year or so, it has become increasingly popular to have a predominantly dark colour in your colour scheme, in particular we have seen a massive surge in popularity for deep blue shades. However, this is not limited to any one room in the house. In fact, dark colours actually work really well within the bathroom, and really help to set the right mood.
Having these dark colours in your bathroom colour scheme often makes it feel richer, especially when paired with metallic or brass accents. This creates a really classy and elegant vibe, and is also very calming. Furthermore, your bathroom is a good place to be a little more experimental and bold in your design choices. You can make your colour scheme a lot more vivid by using a predominantly dark colour to create emphasis and make the whole design more interesting.
Large tiles
The most common part of bathroom design is tiling. This is generally because tiles are compatible with the conditions within a bathroom. However, this is not to say that there isn’t variety when it comes to tiling. In fact, there are endless different designs, colours, shapes and sizes in tiling, and it is up to you to choose the perfect match for your bathroom and find something that will really enhance the design.
In 2020, large tiles have become a lot more popular. They very much give off a ‘less is more’ type of feel, as although they can be quite plain and simple, they still create impact. Furthermore, large tiles come in all different effects, textures and colours, so you can pair this with the rest of your bathroom design.
Waterfall showers
We all like to add a bit of luxury in our homes where possible, and one of our favourite ways to do this is by having a waterfall shower in your bathroom. Not only does this look fantastic, but it is also a very luxurious and impressive feature to have. Waterfall showers provide so much relaxation as they are spa-like. Therefore, people enjoy bringing a little bit of luxury and quality home for them to enjoy!
